Your hosts – Peter and Wendy
Both are keen and independent travellers who are always on the lookout for special places in great locations. They believe the Clyde River Cottage is the type of place they seek worldwide. Previous to being at Nelligen, they owned and managed a holiday park set in the heart of the Murramarang National Park and Batemans Marine Park. They have extensive knowledge of the best bush and beach walks in the area. Both enjoy kayaking on the Clyde River – right at their doorstep. Bushwalking in the surrounding National Parks or searching for the perfect cappuccino are other pursuits. Peter and Wendy are joint holders of the World Record for the visiting every Durras on the planet! One of their more eccentric travel journeys. Search online for the “Durras World Record” to learn more about that one! (They lived in nearby Durras North for 13 years and were keen to see if any village was better worldwide!)
Peter is a licensed microlight pilot and can occasionally be seen flying over the Clyde River Cottage. His other flying passion was as a commercial hot air balloon pilot. A keen distance runner with 20 marathons under his belt, Peter now enjoys shorter runs in the Nelligen region. For several years, he was involved in the management of one of the worlds largest adventure travel companies which enabled him to see the world quite differently from the average traveller. White water rafting, sea kayaking, sailing, trekking and cycling were all part of the job. His latest adventure involved driving the length of India in a motorised rickshaw. (Tuk Tuk).
Wendy is an enthusiastic traveller. She has ridden camels in the deserts of the Sinai and India. Trekked in Nepal. Ballooned over Australia. Other countries visited include Indonesia, Poland, France, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Italy, Cambodia, Albania, Ireland, Greece, Myanmar, Cuba, Japan and many many more. France is her favourite though and she loves any opportunity to exchange a few sentences with like minded French travellers.
Peter and Wendy look forward to having you stay with them and being able to share why they love this part of Australia so much. Their search is over and they look forward to sharing their special place. Ellie is the other resident at the Clyde River Cottage. A mini Schnauzer who though shy, is very friendly.
