The historic village of Nelligen is located on the NSW South Coast and is an 8 minute drive from Batemans Bay. The tiny township is nestled beside the Clyde River National Park, whose namesake river passes through Nelligen to the Batemans Bay Harbour. Nelligen is home to great Australian wildlife: you can spot kangaroos, kookaburras, birds and fish.

From Batemans Bay (Sydney)
At Batemans Bay, turn off the Princes Highway on to the Kings Highway (To Canberra.) Drive for around 9kms and turn left at Bridgeview Road. (There is also a large sign saying “Sunlit Waters” at this turnoff.) Continue keeping left on Bridgeview Road before turning left into Sproxtons Lane. Go all the way to the end of the laneway and we are on the right hand side. A red mailbox with 33.
By Bus or Taxi
From Canberra
From Canberra, cross the Nelligen Bridge. Take the very first turn to the right. (Thule Road). Then the next right (Bridgeview Road) and left again into Sproxtons Lane. Go all the way to the end of the laneway and we are on the right-hand side. A red mailbox with 33.

From Batemans Bay (Sydney)
Sydney is 330km away and takes between 3.5 to 4 hours.

By Bus or Taxi
If you are coming by bus to Batemans Bay, a taxi service is available to Nelligen. The phone number is 4472 8555. The cost is approximately $30 but this price can vary at night.

Previous to being at Nelligen, they owned and managed a holiday park set in the heart of the Murramarang National Park and Batemans Marine Park.
Both enjoy kayaking on the Clyde River – right at their doorstep. Bushwalking in the surrounding National Parks or searching for the perfect cappuccino are other pursuits.

Is there a wifi connection?
Absolutely. And it is free. High speed broadband wifi. The signal even extends down to the jetty.
With regards to mobile, Telstra has excellent reception. Optus comes and goes. Other carriers generally doubtful.

Are there waterfront views from the Cottage?
The Clyde River Cottage is not absolute waterfront. It is just a 30-metre walk to the jetty/waterfront area which is for your use during your stay. Between the Cottage and the Clyde River is our house.
Where are the nearest shops?
Batemans Bay is just 10km from the Cottage and takes less than 10 minutes to drive. It is a major shopping centre with supermarkets, specialty stores, cafes, restaurants, cinema and just about any other services you require.

There is a small cafe in Nelligen itself. It is a short drive across the bridge, or you can take a leisurely stroll and reward yourself with a cappuccino or fish and chips once there.
The Steampacket Hotel is located just out of the Nelligen Village. It is a short drive. Though it is possible to walk there, it is not recommended. The hotel has a bistro and wood-fired pizzas. View their Facebook page.
(In peak holiday periods, the traffic into Batemans Bay can be heavy. Just ask us if you are concerned.)
Do we have river views?
There is also a small courtyard adjoining your bedroom.
Can we bring our own kayaks?
Yes. You can also launch them from our private jetty. We also hire kayaks from Nelligen Kayak Hire. Just ask us to arrange.
What else is there to do?

To preserve the atmosphere of the Clyde River Cottage we limit the number of occupants to two people. If you would like a separate bed, we have a stretcher bed available on request.
