Some questions we are commonly asked…
Is the Cottage air-conditioned?
Yes. A modern reverse cycle air-conditioner has been installed. Keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. Or you can just open the windows and doors for natural breezes or use the supplied Dyson fan.
What cooking facilities are there?
There is just about everything you need to cook a wonderful meal. Though no conventional oven is in the cottage, there is a convection microwave. If you prefer, there is always the gas barbecue down by the jetty. Perhaps you can barbecue a freshly caught fish! (Gas supplied)
Is there a wifi connection?
Do we need to bring linen?
No. The Queen size bed is fully made up. A spare blanket and doona is also available if you really feel the cold.
We also include pillows, towels and bathmats.
Do you accept pets?
Sorry, but no pets are permitted.
How do we get to the Cottage?
Upon booking we send out detailed directions to you. Or you can view directions online here.
Is there a washing machine?
A Miele washing machine is located in the cottage bathroom. Washing powder is provided. You can dry your clothes on an outdoor clothesline. If you need to dry something in a hurry, you can ask us for the use of our drier.
The Outdoor Areas
Can we fish off the jetty?
Absolutely! Flathead and Bream are the most regular catches. No guarantees of course.
You may need a fishing licence. You can find out more information and buy a licence from the Recreational Fishing Section of the Department of Primary Industry.
Can we have a barbecue or open fire?
Down by the jetty is an outdoor area with a gas barbecue (gas supplied). To keep you warm, you can either use the cast iron pot belly or open fireplace. We supply the firewood. Of course, any fires are subject to local fire restrictions.
What about parking?
You can park your vehicle right outside the cottage. There is also ample room for your trailer if required.
The local area
Where are the nearest restaurants?
Batemans Bay (just 10kms from the cottage) has a wide variety of cafes and restaurants. We haven’t tried them all but we can generally steer you in the right direction depending upon what you need. We provide you with a list of our favourites in the Cottage information booklet.
There is a cafe across the bridge in Nelligen, but only open during the day. Great for coffees and light lunches.
Where are the nearest shops?
Batemans Bay is just 10km from the Cottage and takes less than 10 minutes to drive. It is a major shopping centre with supermarkets, specialty stores, cafes, restaurants, cinema and just about any other services you require.
There is a small cafe in Nelligen itself. It is a short drive across the bridge, or you can take a leisurely stroll and reward yourself with a cappuccino or fish and chips once there.
The Steampacket Hotel is located just out of the Nelligen Village. It is a short drive. Though it is possible to walk there, it is not recommended. The hotel has a bistro and wood fired pizzas. However you will need to check to see if these facilities are operational.
(In peak holiday periods, the traffic into Batemans Bay can be heavy. Just ask us if you are concerned.)
